    Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

    • Position: Chief Operating Officer

    The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden's mission is to create and maintain a public venue that fosters the art, appreciation, and understanding of horticulture, offering educational and research opportunities.

    We are looking for a senior executive with significant experience in senior management and leadership roles within organizations such as public gardens, arboretums, science centers, or similar nonprofit entities.

    The COO will play a crucial role in the staff leadership team, collaborating closely with a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors.

    The ideal candidate should possess strong business management acumen, with a wide-ranging background in overseeing various operational departments and functions.

    Key responsibilities of this role include strategic planning, operations management, budgeting, financial analysis, and regular reporting directly to the CEO.

    Experience in managing large-scale capital projects is a must for this position.

    The successful candidate must have exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills to effectively lead and develop diverse teams, ensuring the achievement of deadlines, maintaining quality, meeting organizational goals, and exceeding expectations.

    This role demands a goal-oriented, organized individual capable of multitasking, with a professional demeanor, flexibility, diplomacy, responsiveness, self-motivation, sound judgment, and strong problem-solving skills.

    The COO should also possess excellent verbal and written communication abilities, demonstrating grammatical precision and professionalism in all communications.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant computer software is essential.

    Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and at least seven years of significant managerial experience within nonprofit organizations, including five years of supervisory experience.

    Job requirements also entail prolonged periods of office-based work, physical monitoring of the property, and conducting tours.

    Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, is necessary for this role.

    The annual salary range for this position is $235,000-$250,000, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, FSA, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) plan, education assistance, generous paid time off, holidays, and sick leave.
