    Position Summary:


    Responsible for supporting Information Technology functions and activities; administers all computer hardware (Servers/Clients), software, and network systems to meet business needs within the U.S.

    and Canada region.

    In this roleyou will be accountable for:

    Essential Functions:


    Performs primarily Tier2 and some Tier3 support on all Servers and client side computers, including Laptops, Desktops and Engineering workstations, Cisco Routers and Switches.

    Build PCs & Laptops per Sulzer standard configurations including software installation.
    Troubleshoots & resolves system and user problems coordinating with the Regional IT Manager, and CoEs.
    Servers

    Build/configure hardware, install, and manage servers per Sulzer Standards, Group Policy administration, working with the Server CoE team.

    Networking - installation and configuration of Routers, Switches, WLCs, & WAPs; works with Network CoE to manage the local area network, and wireless networks and perform firmware upgrades.

    Perform system and network tasks to support CoEs which may include:

    File System security:
    set system access policies and user rights per security authorization procedure.
    Server management

    patch management
    Coordinate efforts to maintain / upgrade current operating systems and hardware to standards to meet strategic objectives.

    Coordinates with Regional IT Manager to manage and monitor performance of outside vendors and consultants, as necessary for assigned projects.

    Assists Regional IT Manager with system backups, disaster recovery plans, hardware/software inventories, software legalization, continued use of anti-virus software, and implementation of IT policies and security directives.

    Purchases IT equipment, as needed, making purchasing decisions based on need, staying within the operating budget for the IT department.

    Receives, inspects, and dispatches computer hardware and software for U.S. locations including remote personnel.
    Supports purchases for Canada. Acts in accordance with Sulzer Purchasing Department policies, procedures, and work instructions.
    Handles warranty claims related to the purchases.
    May be required to supervise local/remote IT staff, including PC technicians, other technical professionals, and interns.
    Assists in the effort to manage cell phones, phone, and voice mail systems.


    Secondary Responsibilities:


    Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide LEAN and EHS Management System, all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.

    Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management effort.
    Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards.
    Performs other duties as necessary.

    To succeed in this role, you will need:

    Education and Experience:
    Ten+ years proven direct experience with above Essential Functions.
    Ten + years direct experience with Cisco Networking. (Required)
    WM-Ware experience is REQUIRED.


    Required Skills and Abilities:
    Proven ability to manage Cisco Routers/Switches within a large WAN environment.
    Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, and procedures.
    Analytical ability and resourcefulness, as required for daily support tasks and assigned projects.
    Ability to persistently work toward goals despite distractions or interruptions.
    Ability to listen to others and understand their views and to explain complex ideas in non-technical terms.
    Oral communication skills, as required in interacting effectively with users in all levels of personnel.
    Written communication skills, as required in preparing concise, understandable business reports.
    Good intercultural skills with an ability to adapt to and understand different worldwide cultures.


    Travel & Meeting Requirements:


    This position may require some travel to remote locations for support or project management including local office and manufacturing locations in North America.

    May include once per week morning participation (6:00AM) of Global DevOps group concerning server/client/networking


    Physical Requirements:


    To perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation, the employee must be able to see, hear, talk, and use hands/fingers to operate computer hardware and peripherals.

    The employee will frequently be required to walk, stand, crouch or climb as required to monitor projects and investigate problems with network or desktop hardware.

    Lifting of up to 50 pounds may be occasionally required.
