- Perform diagnostic, replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: engines, transmissions and transaxles, manual drive train and axles, suspension, steering, brakes, clutches, AC units and electric motors.
- Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
- Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance to include: Oil and lube service, coolant system flush, transmissions services, filter and gasket checks, checking of water pumps, thermostats, belts, radiator hoses and clutch fans.
- Perform welding, such as: Carbon arc, and Mig.
- May operate equipment such as: forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining work orders, a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections.
- Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; Bachelor's degree in a technical mining related discipline with at least one (1) summer internship experience (or equivalent) working in a mining or industrial environment.
- Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.
- Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
