    Role Purpose:

    The Lead Brewer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the brewing process, leading, training and coaching a team of brewers, and ensuring the quality and consistency of our products. The Lead Brewer is a valued resource for the Brewing Operators to assist troubleshooting in order to ensure unforeseen process events are being addressed with a sense of urgency. The Lead Brewer is qualified to complete all tasks in the brewing, blending, kitting, sanitation, quality and filtration areas. This role requires strong leadership abilities, technical expertise in brewing, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of production.

    Accountabilities & Impact:

    Safety:

    • Lead by example and adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe working environment. Ensure team members are accountable to same.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
    • Contribute to the development of safety initiatives to prevent accidents and injuries.
    Quality Assurance:
    • Lead by example and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality assurance procedures to maintain product integrity and meet customer expectations.
    • Monitor raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods for adherence to specifications.
    • Work closely with the Quality team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
    Brewing Operations:
    • Oversee all aspects of the brewing process, including but not limited to kitting, batching, laboratory work, filtration, raw material unloading, control room operations, and inventory.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for brewing operations to ensure consistency and efficiency.
    • Monitor brewing process parameters as ABV, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), CO2 concentration, Real Extract (RE), and more, to maintain product quality and consistency.
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
    • Maintain accurate production records and documentation to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.
    Team Leadership:
    • Lead and motivate a team of brewers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and job satisfaction.
    • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure smooth operation of the brewing department.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the brewing team.
    Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and quality improvement within the brewing department.
    • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing projects, to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
    Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Packaging, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain, to achieve production goals and resolve issues.
    • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure alignment on production schedules, inventory management, and product specifications.
    Skills & Experiences Needed:
    • High School diploma or equivalent required, Associates degree and/or Trade Certification preferred.
    • 2+ years of experience in leadership roles in manufacturing environment.
    • Previous Brewing or high-speed food/beverage manufacturing experience.
    • Brewing/Filtration experience a plus
    • Demonstrated and effective use of computer skills such as MS office, Teams, OneNote, and email.
    • Forklift experience a plus (certification not required)

    Working conditions:
    • Fast-paced and constantly changing work environment.
    • Ability to work outdoors occasionally, exposed to the outside conditions, for short periods of time.
    • Subject to extreme temperatures.
    • Shift work including days, evenings, overnight shifts, and up to 12 hrs.
    • Overtime including weekends and holidays as needed.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to stand/move 8-12 hours per day.
    • Ability to ascend/descend stairs/ladders throughout shift.
    • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including (but not limited to) bump cap, safety steel toe shoes, safety glasses, dust masks or PAPRs.
    • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
    Scheduling requirements: 2-2-3, 12-hour shifts in a two-week cycle. Shift operations include weekends, holidays. Must be able to work overtime as directed by management.
