    We are looking for a Materials Engineer to join our EMD team

    Materials Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop innovative and practical solutions to complex materials engineering problems.

    You will look for new advanced ways to improve and evolve material evaluation and guide material selection efforts for new products.

    Work with design engineering and vendors to develop complex base material procedures and processes (e.g., to obtain desired mechanical and material properties.

    Plan, coordinate, and execute complex materials engineering activities including documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical or other presentations to ensure visibility of solutions in an evolving environment.

    Review standards, specifications, and other documentation to determine metallurgical and materials engineering requirements. Develop innovative, practical solutions to advance complex materials engineering problems. Guide material selection efforts for existing and new products.
    Leads technical teams in materials root cause analysis and related activities. Look for new and innovative ways to use material evaluation tools and techniques. Work with laboratory equipment vendors to generate proposals for new capital asset equipment, as necessary.
    Perform work in accordance with departmental procedures and instructions, CW policies, and safety, environmental, and security rules and guidelines.

    Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Sciences
    A minimum of 5 years' work experience in engineering support of heavy component manufacturing including joining and machining operations.
    Demonstrated project planning skills and understanding of cost and schedule implications.
    Must be sole US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
