- Knowledge of Linux/Unix fundamentals and network concepts.
- Experience in Shell scripting with languages like bash, zsh, Perl, Python, C/C++, Go, Java.
- Proficiency in Configuration management/Infrastructure as Code with tools like Ansible, Puppet, Terraform/Terragrunt, CloudFormation.
- Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker or Podman and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes or Apache Mesos.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.
- Awareness of important security principles like encryption and keys.
- Basic understanding of SRE principles: monitoring, alerting, error budgets, fault analysis, and automation.
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and support of monitoring, observability, alerting, and logging systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Contribute to designing and implementing automated processes and tooling, including writing Ansible playbooks and monitoring API endpoints.
- Monitor performance metrics closely to identify optimization opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with various teams to troubleshoot incidents, determine root causes, and implement effective preventive solutions.
- Assist in documenting workflows, procedures, and validating run books.

Responsibilities
We are in need of an operations engineer to be part of the Crypto Services SRE team. The team takes care of systems and services supporting various Apple internal services and those used directly by users. As part of this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the reliability, scalability, performance, and optimal operation of our systems and services. You will get the chance to learn and contribute to different aspects of site reliability engineering such as monitoring, automation, incident response, and infrastructure optimization, all aimed at enhancing the experiences of Apple users.
