    Job Summary
    The Continuous Improvement Specialist enables business units to achieve their full value through improved process effectiveness. Role improves processes and builds controllership models in order to support organizational oversight and management of key activities. Experience lean conversion, process improvement, kaizen facilitation, process controls, project management, and/or Six Sigma methodologies.

    Essential Functions

  • The essential functions listed represent the major duties of this role, additional duties may be assigned.
  • Process Improvement Engagement Execution
    Provides leadership and technical expertise for planning, managing and implementation of business unit process improvement initiatives.Implements lean tools including value stream mapping, process mapping, process controls, standard work, capacity management, problem solving, and visual management to achieve targetsDemonstrates use of data to define root cause. Plans project timelines and milestones, tracks progress, monitors and communicates project status, and determines project costs, benefits, and controls. Identifies and resolves project barriers and/or risks. Builds and implements a sustainable control plan.Executes multiple initiatives which may have many internal and external dependencies, are complex in scope, have multiple integration points, and are worked within multiple teams of resources.Assigns tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines to initiative team members.May be accountable for the financial management of assigned initiatives, including integration opportunities and cost reductions.Oversees reporting, monitoring and evaluation activities of current projects and/or actions targeted to improve key metrics and customer insights.Perform data manipulation and analysis (graphical and statistical) as required in support of performance metric reporting.Will achieve Lean Competency System – Operational Excellence Green Belt within 12 months of job start to align with enterprise vocabulary and approach.
  • Change Leadership
    Provides consultative support to leadership within context of overall strategic objective to initiate actions to improve the customer experience and gain process efficiencies.Serves as an integral part of a team that will develop and lead the deployment of continuous improvement infrastructure throughout the business unit.Provides insight and guidance from a business perspective on the direction and continued utilization of CI methodologies.Drives changes in the organizational measurement systems to effectively monitor key strategic focuses, shifting the organization to end-to-end process management beyond current functional focus.Uses end-to-end mapping and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement that positively impact up-stream and down-stream business partners.Works with all levels (leaders, managers, and associates) of assigned areas to identify opportunities for improvement, structure efforts to achieve the targeted improvements and establish measurement systems to monitor performance.Develops and maintains relationships throughout business unit to enable business objectives and issue resolution and program consistency.
  • Continuous Improvement Consulting/Training
    Provides CI consulting/coaching/training to employees across the assigned business area as applicable.Mentors the organizational stakeholders and teams in the use and support of continuous improvement methodologies as applicable. Provides coaching, consulting, and guidance to leaders, managers, and associates across the assigned business area regarding the use of CI tools for process/system enhancements.
  • Qualifications

    Required Work Experience

  • 5+ years related work experience. Experience Details: Experience in the health insurance industry or relevant business experience
  • Required Education

  • Related Bachelor's degree or additional related equivalent work experience
  • Additional Required Qualifications

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification, Green Belt/Black Belt or proven experience in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, including large scale process improvement initiatives that includes lean engineering principles, value stream mapping, process mapping, process controls, standard work, capacity management, problem solving, and/or visual management.
  • Strong facilitation skills, confident communicator, both verbally and in writing with all levels of an organization and diverse audiences.
  • Highly collaborative with a demonstrated ability to build strong, credible relationships and teams within all levels in the organization.
  • Continuous improvement experience.
  • Proven experience working with data and statistical analysis
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Preferred Education

  • Engineering, Finance, or Business-related degree with focus on quantitative methods
  • Preferred Licenses and Certifications

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification Green Belt/Black Belt (Highly Preferred)
  • PMP - Project Mgmt Professional Project Management / Change Management experience (e.g. PMP)
  • Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Business Process Management Demonstrated ability to work with staff and management at all levels of the Company
  • General Physical Demands
    Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.

    Annualized Salary Range: $74,200 - $120,500

    Typical Annualized Hiring Range: $74,200 - $92,700

    Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
