    Organization

    Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, Data Projects & Initiatives. Integrate business intelligence technology with conventional institutional research to expand the creation, dissemination, and maintenance of vital information. Develop data visualizations, analyses, and reports that support decision-making and strategic planning. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop user-friendly for efficient decision support. Leverage warehouse data to address organizational challenges through comprehensive reports, analysis, data visualization techniques.

    Duties:
    • Provides enterprise-wide data warehouse expertise with emphasis on data design, access, usage, security, and quality of information.
    • Utilize business intelligence tools such as Power BI to design an interactive dashboard interface.
    • Create charts, graphs, and maps to represent enrollment trends over time, distribution of student demographics, geographic origin of students and other relevant metrics.
    • Develop customized dashboards and scorecards to track progress towards strategic plan goals and objectives.
    • Implement visualizations that provide insights into key performance metrics, enabling stakeholders to monitor goal progress and identify areas requiring attention.
    • Write queries, develop reports, and conduct analyses for institutional research, data projects & initiatives.
    • Identify and resolve technical issues within institutional research data warehouse systems, such as data loading failures, query performance bottlenecks, and data transformation errors.
    • Debug SQL queries, ETL processes, and data integration workflows to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
    • Communicates with nontechnical business users to determine specific business requirements for reports and business intelligence solutions.
    • Collaborate with administrators, academic departments, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide analytical support for projects and institutional reporting.
    • Communicates with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity, security, and optimized performance at the application and database level.
    • Engage with technical staff, including database administrators and system architects, to coordinate database maintenance activities and software upgrades.
    • Communicate database schema changes and performance optimizations to operational staff to ensure minimal disruption to institutional research activities.
    • Collaborate with application developers and operational staff to integrate strategic plan goal reporting data into business intelligence applications and dashboards.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to ensure seamless integration and interoperability within existing systems and workflows.
    • Develop processes for distributing reports to relevant stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information.
    • Respond to ad hoc requests for data and information.


    Job Location

    Required Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

    • 24 months experience in Business Intelligence, data warehousing, or related experience.
    Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelors Degree for a total of 72 months related experience.

    Skills:

    • Knowledge of MS SQL Server, Integration Services and Reporting Services.
    • Knowledge of TSQL scripting and understand complex stored procedures, views, data aggregation; manipulation through table joins; queries, database design, normalization and de-normalization techniques.
    • Knowledge of SQL and data warehousing concepts.
    • Knowledge of Business Intelligence including ETL design, analytics and reporting.
    • Working knowledge of data extraction and manipulation, ETL techniques.
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

    Advertised Physical Requirements:

    • Physical: Sit for prolonged periods of time. Use of a computer. Manual dexterity. Communicate effectively and listens.
    • Environmental: Standard Office Environment.

    Departmental Preferences:

    • Experience in University Institutional Research & Reporting
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Experience with PeopleSoft Applications
