- Enforce rules and procedures
- Keep pool and pool deck free of obstructions and safety hazards
- Maintain constant surveillance of the water and pool deck areas
- Handle equipment as assigned to ensure safety
- Record chemical readings
- Know and demonstrate emergency procedures
- Maintain emergency equipment
- Respond to all emergencies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Demonstrate support for the Association's mission and values
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Minimum age of 16
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certifications or equivalent - must obtain before starting
- Intro to Y's Cause & Culture Online Course - required before starting
- Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days
- Visual, auditory, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to stay alert and adapt to changing conditions
- Capability for strenuous physical activity
- Strong communication abilities
- Capacity to work with diverse groups
- Aptitude for independent work
- Ability to maintain control despite distractions
- Attendance to required YMCA trainings/courses

POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Lifeguard, you will play a vital role in offering a secure environment for individuals to swim, learn, develop, and have fun. Your responsibilities include ensuring pool and pool deck safety, connecting with individuals positively to establish relationships, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all pool visitors.
