    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY

    :
  • Substitute for classroom teachers or instructional paraprofessionals
  • Assist in the campus office as needed
  • QUALIFICATIONS:


    Education/Certification:

  • Must have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education; (have completed at least 30 college hours) or
  • Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree
  • Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate or be willing to obtain upon hire and complete fingerprinting requirements
  • Special Knowledge/Skills :

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with students and staff
  • Experience:

  • Some experience working with children
  • MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    Instructional Support:

  • Substitute for a classroom teacher or instructional paraprofessional
  • Assist with work assignments
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom
  • Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
  • Assist teachers with administrative records and prepare required reports
  • Student Management:

  • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, work with individual students or small groups
  • Supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom (lunchroom, bus, and playground)
  • Keep the teacher informed of the special needs or problems of individual students
  • Assist in the campus office
  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Copier, computer, audiovisual equipment
