    Memory Care Assistant

    Statement of Job:

    The Memory Care Assistant will make a positive contribution to the lives of our residents by providing them with personalized daily care and meaningful interaction in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the community under the direct supervision of the Memory Care Neighborhood Director or supervisor on duty. The Memory Care Assistant will promote hospitality and deliver a high level of customer service at all times in keeping with the

    • Ensuring the delivery of competent and compassionate care to all residents
    • Maintaining and using personal connections for meaningful interaction with all residents
    • Maintaining and supporting the best environment for residents with cognitive impairment
    • Consistently meeting or exceeding service standards and Responsibilities:
    • Provide excellent, personalized care delivery for residents with cognitive impairment using skills taught during cognitive care training. Honor resident preferences as indicated on the RA Task Sheet and Resident Social Profile
    • Review and follow a written assignment for daily care to residents per RA Task Sheets
    • Observe resident functioning and report any change in condition or behavior to supervisor
    • Assist in providing the overall dining experience for residents to include preparing the dining room for meal service and using cueing and hand under hand to assist residents with eating
    • Report information verbally or in writing to oncoming shift to ensure a smooth transition between shifts and continuity of care
    • Build deep connections with family members and interact with family members in a thoughtful and compassionate way and participate in sharing positive experiences of loved ones with family members per community specific guidelines
    • Assist in managing the physical environment in the Memory Care Neighborhood to ensure cleanliness, appropriate noise levels and an atmosphere that supports the residents living there
    • Perform Daily housekeeping and laundry duties in the residents' rooms as assigned
    • Participate in and/or lead engagement activities as assigned and spend time each day in meaningful interactions with residents. Recognize, acknowledge, and participate in celebrating residents' life events (i.e. birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)
    • Use PPA (Positive Physical Approach) in all interactions with residents, family members, visitors, and fellow employees
    • Actively participate in the culture of learning by attending cognitive care training, in-service training and staff meetings as scheduled
    • Use proper body mechanics, safe transfer techniques utilizing a gait belt or other resident specific equipment and safe practices in all settings
    • Take initiative to help all residents and co-workers with needs or requests for service; anticipate resident needs
    • Support a culture of teamwork by working together with mutual dignity and respect and sharing best practices for delivering personalized care to residents
    • Maintain resident dignity, privacy, confidentiality and respect
    • Follow company policies and procedures performing all job duties as described in the Orientation Handbook
    • Other duties as assigned
    Minimum Qualifications
    • A desire to interact and engage with residents with cognitive impairment outside of delivering basic care
    • Maintains all necessary certifications required in state
    • The ability to communicate proficiently in English
