- Design and fabrication of medium to large scale pressure vacuum vessels
- Design and assembly of complex mechanism and material-handling systems
- Field integration of shop-built components.
- Prepare engineering calculations, project specifications and procedures
- Review and approve design drawings and engineering calculations prepared by other Engineering Department employees
- Conduct design reviews and prepare design review documentation (PowerPoint, Word documents)
- Work with Sales and Estimating to prepare proposals and develop engineering estimates
- Work with procurement to requisition long-lead and other BOM (bill of material) items
- Some travel to customer sites is requires for this role.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Three or more years' experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- High vacuum experience a plus
- Knowledge of the following disciplines:
- Heat transfer
- Fluid mechanics
- Mechanisms
- Stress analysis
- Materials
- Automation and Machine Design
- Knowledge and experience – ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong computer skills – SolidWorks and AutoCad required

Typical systems require a broad range of technical disciplines including:
The Mechanical Engineer works with project managers, manufacturing, procurement and other engineers and designers to conceptualize, design and analyze mechanical systems and components including pumping systems, thermal control systems and vacuum chambers. The Mechanical Engineer also prepares engineering schedules to ensure timely release of design documents to the manufacturing department.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ordinary requirements found in an office work environment with occasional work on the manufacturing shop floor. Must be able to communicate on the phone, by computer, and in person. Frequent sitting, infrequent standing, occasional walking is required; frequent use of hands and fingers.
