    Responsibilities Peraton requires Satellite Planners to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) - J. Position is Located in Fort Liberty.

    The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) J Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services.

    The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.

    The Satellite Planner is responsible for providing technical and operational support, as well as subject matter expertise (SME), for Frequency Division Multiple Accesses (FDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Tactical Satellite (TACSAT), INMARSAT Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN), Global Broadcast Satellite (GBS), High-Performance Waveform (HPW), and other satellite communication (SATCOM) networks.

    This position shall be directly involved in configuring networks, monitoring systems, activating remote terminals, as well as tracking and resolving SATCOM incident reports and problems related to baseband, intermediate frequency (IF), and RF communications.

    The Satellite Planner will operate and maintain the USSOCOM SATCOM network and plan, engineer, coordinate, and document new connections.

    The Planner will provide services to deployed forces that require help troubleshooting and resolving problems encountered when establishing or maintaining SATCOM.


    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Planning, engineering, and operating SATCOM across current and emerging
    • Providing additional staff as needed to support mission surges and unplanned mission
    • Creating, modifying, and updating logical satellite circuit connectivity using network monitoring
    • Providing support for end
    • Recommending improvements to the SATCOM network and implement those recommendations when approved by the Government.
    • Processing, validating, and determining the impacts of Satellite Access Requests (SAR) and cut sheets for satellite connectivity.
    • Allocating resources for validated requirements for SATCOM bandwidth, SATCOM channels, router ports, multiplexer ports, and dedicated circuits.
    • Performing circuit engineering including planning, engineering, and preparing Telecommunications Service Requests/Telecommunications Service Orders (TSR/TSO).
    • Coordinating circuit activation and test with local and remote users including deployed
    • Preparing circuit documentation including circuit
    • Providing quality control (QC) and bandwidth utilization
    • Some positions may require shift work and/or an ability to work a non-standard work schedule to support the USSOCOM missionQualifications
    • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
    • Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
    • A DoD TS clearance is required
    • At least four years of experience in planning and operating FDMA, TDMA, UHF TACSAT, INMARSAT BGAN, GBS, HPW, and other commercial and military tactical satellite communications systems.
    • Expert knowledge of satellite ground station equipment and how to interface it with terrestrial systems (e.g., Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateways and other telephony systems).
    • Ability to plan and implement hybrid networks (e.g., terrestrial, satellite, and fiber).
    • Subject matter expertise in the theory associated with both commercial and tactical military satellite RF bands (e.g., L, C, X, Ku, and Ka).
    • Knowledge and experience with commercial and tactical military satellite technology architectures, standards, systems, hardware and software.
    • Experience creating, analyzing, and processing SARs, GARs, SAAs, GAAs, TSRs, and
    • CCENT OR CCNA OR CCT certification required
