    The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in performing high level research in areas of materials science, inorganic chemistry, or electrochemistry and experimental and theoretical modeling of material degradation and corrosion.

    This position requires the use of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of discipline or specialty for the development, design, implementation and execution of scientific research for the preparation of technical reports and manuscripts for publication.

    The individual in this position will organize experimental and/or technical results, prepare reports, publish technical journal articles, and make technical presentations at conferences and symposia; and train and/or supervise hands-on training of student assistants, graduate students, technicians, and entry-level professionals.


    Minimum Qualifications:
    Doctoral degree in Materials Science or Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or Electrochemistry

    Maximum of two years since awarding of degree.

    Directly related work experience and graduate level training in Materials Science, Chemistry, or Electrochemistry

    Due to security clearance requirements for this position, the successful applicant must be a U.S. citizen and be able to pass a National Agency Check at the time of hire


    Preferred Qualifications:
    While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

    Ph.
    D. degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or Electrochemistry or a related Engineering discipline

    Knowledge and proven experience in corrosion electrochemistry, theoretical and/or experimental modeling and chemical kinetics

    Experience using electrochemical software and instrumentation for the characterization of corrosion behavior of materials

    Experience using spectroscopic techniques for materials surface analysis as they relate to corrosion

    Knowledge and experience in the interpretation of polarization potential-current diagrams and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy as they relate to corrosion

    Ability to collaborate with contemporaries in related fields leading to the growth of funding opportunities is preferred;

    Demonstrated knowledge of:
    corrosion measurement or material characterization technologies, and electrochemical analysis techniques
