    Description

    **Buyer Planner** Location **NC, Marion** Department **Supply Chain** Employment Type **Full Time** **Position Summary:**

    Responsible for assuring the continuous supply of assigned components to support customer service goals, minimize the total landed cost of material and optimize companys cash flow.

    **Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):**

    Evaluates and acts upon the MRP requirements and Kanban levels for assigned commodities. Generates and adjusts purchase orders and/or shop work orders to support production schedules. Effectively communicates areas of concern to appropriate departments, individuals and/or suppliers. Inputs, maintains, and adjusts records or transactions to ensure system validity.

    Maintains department Visual Boards and 5S.

    Proactively identifies and takes appropriate corrective actions to prevent material shortages. Expedites materials as required and provides accurate material status information to other departments and site management.

    Effectively communicates forecasted requirements to external suppliers.

    Objectively measures and communicates supplier performance to support supply chain continuous improvement efforts. Interfaces with Suppliers, Quality, Strategic Sourcing, and Drives increased inventory turns, reduced cycle times, and improved Customer OTD by developing, implementing and managing pull-based material replenishment processes, including, but not limited to Kanban cards, vendor managed inventory and supplier consignments.

    Ensures quick resolution of shipping discrepancies, receiving errors, and invoice errors, and authorizes all inventory adjustments. Coordinates adjustments to ship dates or quantities on open purchase orders as necessary.

    Works to eliminate excess and obsolete parts, and rationalize similar parts.

    Effectively develops master level schedule for final assembly/fabrication work cells.

    Effectively links final assembly/fabrication schedule to internal feeder work cells to ensure material availability of required products to support targeted level schedule.

    Ensures timely release of work orders and daily work cell schedules to ensure overall delivery and shipment goals are achieved.

    Coordinates and effectively communicates daily priorities necessary to achieve satisfactory delivery and shipment execution.

    Performs capacity planning for short term and mid-term planning horizon to ensure satisfactory delivery and shipment performance.

    Owns and maintains delivery and past due portion of shop floor visual management boards.

    Ensure timely maintenance of MRP / ERP planning settings, including, but not limited to work cell queue times and work cell capacity levels.

    Coordination with CSR for Quote process to get the business. Manage Lead Time matrix for the value stream to quote right lead time to the customer.

    **Essential Qualifications / Experience:**

    BS/BA in business or technical field or a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

    Direct experience working with suppliers from low cost regions (India, China, Eastern Europe, Etc.).

    Demonstrated proficiency utilizing and leveraging capacity planning tools in order to ensure effective delivery and shipment execution

    Direct experience planning and scheduling manufacturing based production operations

    Demonstrated ability to leverage MRP/ERP systems to execute both purchasing and planning related responsibilities

    Direct experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc.) with a materials management focus

    CPIM, CSCP, Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma Green Belt certifications are highly desirable.

    Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact based decisions. Includes a strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software.

    Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft office suite software (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, MS project, etc.).

    Prior experience implementing and managing a Kanban or pull system approach to component flow.

    Knowledge of supplier performance management practices and supplier scorecard.

    Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment.
