    Overview For Medical Records and Referrals Clerk Position:

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Medical Records and Referral Clerk. As a Medical Records and Referrals Clerk, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records for our patients. This position requires knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, insurance verification, and medical coding.

    Responsibilities:

    • Organize and maintain patient medical records in accordance with established procedures
    • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all medical records
    • Retrieve and file medical records as needed
    • Process requests for release of medical information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
    • Verify insurance information and update patient records accordingly
    • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation of patient care
    • Maintain confidentiality and security of all patient information

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in medical records management is a plus
    • Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred)
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-10) is essential
    • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and guidelines for maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
