    Job Description:

    This role is responsible for component and system assembly and integration into rocket engine products for hot-fire test and customer acceptance for shipment. Responsibilities include designing and planning of layout, assembly and material handling, planning of sequence of operations, and specifying procedures. The scope of responsibility will be for several rocket engine subsystems or as a process engineer supporting new and developing processes that could be utilized on all programs within Aerojet Rocketdyne, with the potential to acquire greater responsibility as performance and experience dictate.

    Essential Functions:

    Developing and Implementing Manufacturing Assembly and Test Processes and Systems. The candidate will develop and implement the process assembling complex engine system configurations on a wide range of material types and techniques which will include the following:

  • Determining tooling requirements to safely facilitate optimum positioning of work areas for assembling, inspecting, packaging and protection for the engine hardware, support and maintain all product definition requirements, determine labor/skills needed, setups, hardware handling instructions and scheduling.
  • Develop nominal assembly sequences for process planning; including authoring, release, and assembly floor support (utilizing Delmia).
  • Perform risk assessments to ensure risks to personnel and environment are eliminated and risk to hardware and facility are accurately assessed and communicated to management.
  • Support nonconformance assessment, dispositioning, and root cause corrective action.
  • Support design reviews - CoDR, PDR, CDR.
  • Developing/coordinating Support Hardware and Review Engineering Drawings: The candidate will utilize design and business software (Creo, Windchill, AutoCAD, and/or other similar CAD/virtual manufacturing tools/software, MS Office applications such as Word, Excel) to develop, review, and approve hardware in support of Operations and enabling support processes, such as Design Engineering.

    Managing Projects: The candidate will manage processes in accordance with the ARBOS methodology which will include process variation management, process improvement methods (e.g. Kaizen, 3P, VSM, etc.) and other Lean Production elements. They may also prepare Basis of Estimates (BOE) to develop key strategic manufacturing plans, risk assessments and proposals that target customer and business goals; and differentiate between technical process trades (including Repeatability, Reliability, etc.) and business (Schedule, Rates, ISO compliance, etc.) capability.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
