    Description


    Reporting to the Vice President of Contract Management, the Senior Director, Procurement will play a critical strategic role for Melwood in the implementation of a major federal contract portfolio of projects, including more than $120m portfolio of projects.

    The Senior Director, Procurement will work to achieve and exceed quality, control & delivery performance targets across all procurement phases for Melwood.

    The position will assist the Vice President of Contract Management in improving long-term efficiencies and competitiveness for Melwood's contract and grant portfolio.

    Duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to:


    • Ensuring compliance with federal government, industry, best practices and appropriate corporate polices and procedures for purchasing;
    • Developing, managing, and supervising all aspects of procurement, including sourcing, purchasing, fabrication, coordination on logistics and related administration;
    • Drive strategic supplier initiatives including supplier selection, development, consolidation and platforming methodology.
    • Developing and deploying risk mitigation strategies (assurance of supply, tariff issues, alternative manufacturing, cost increases, single supplier risks, etc.);
    • Educating, training and enforcing sourcing, procurement processes and policies utilizing innovative business acumen and best practices;
    • Developing, implementing, and monitoring department budget;
    • Managing expenses within approved budget constraints;
    • Developing, implementing and monitoring an updated procurement policy for a $120m+ agency;
    • Evaluating vendor performance for profitability and establish service level standards;
    • Leading strategically critical projects that bring exceptional value to the company through total cost reduction, key supplier relationships, commodity focus, supplier consolidation, cost/benefit financial analysis, and supplier quality management.

    Qualifications:
    Five or more years of experience directing a Procurement Department. Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree, highly desired. Certified Purchasing Professional, Certified Supply Chain Professional or similar are highly desired.
