JOB SUMMARY Experienced metallurgical engineer with in-depth knowledge of wrought, formed, and forged steel, cobalt, and nickel alloys gas turbine components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
Review and execute approval of special manufacturing processes that have metallurgical requirements
Gas turbine material selection:
Stainless steel, low carbon steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys for components throughout the gas turbine
This includes:
Forgings, sheet metal, plate, bar
Identifying heat treatment requirements
Verify appropriate manufacturing processes and sequences will produce parts that meet metallurgical requirements
This includes:
Forging, heat treatment, passivation, peening
Material related non-conformance assessments and dispositions
Root cause analysis
Engineering drawing review for materials and processing
Responsible for material and process qualification specification creation and revisions
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Training
Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering or other relevant field.
Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM's EHS Training Matrix
Skills/Experience
10+ years working with metal alloys used for gas turbines
Familiar with commercial material specifications – domestic and international
Able to interpret engineering prints
Available for travel to suppliers for qualification review and audits, as-needed
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Must be a detail-oriented, high energy, self-starter with the ability to drive the successful completion of projects within specified time frames
Process and Team-oriented; able to work with a diverse workforce
Strong written and oral communication skills
Trustworthy, quick learning, innovative and reliable Quality assurance experience in production environment
Non-destructive inspection techniques (penetrant, ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle) preferred
