    Duties

    Provide knowledge and tools in the areas on offer based on students' requests and needs, use reflective questioning and listening skills to understand and support outcomes for student's goals, successfully build rapport with students over the long term to support sustainable academic outcomes, participation in staff development opportunities required, use a tailored approach to individually address and give attention to a student's circumstances and needs, apply discernment when advising students, respects all stories and confidences shared during a session, use a responsive and inclusive communication style to ensure students' comfort and psychological safety/create a supportive learning environment during a session, offer feedback that is generative and beneficial to the student's success, recognize the rich diversity of the student body and be willing to meet students where they are, commitment to contributing to students' progress using the most generative methods.

    Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree or higher in liberal arts; bilingual in Spanish or Arabic a plus; teaching/tutoring experience considered but not required.

    Qualifications Ideal candidates will be of collegial spirit, are approachable and welcoming, are willing to collaborate with other faculty and staff within the department as well as on cross-departmental projects, are open minded and adaptable to circumstances as they arise, are receptive and attentive to students' needs, are in command of critical thinking skills, empathetic, familiarity with DEI practices in higher ed is a plus, experience with linguistics or language study is a plus (for working with IEL students), strong writing skills and conversational skills, research skills, proficient with computer skills (including online meeting platforms), passionate about continued learning, self-directed, reflective, committed to highest learning outcomes for students, aligns with core values of the college and the center, is people-centric and relationally focused.
