    Position Summary:

    The Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for building relationships in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, with a focus on general outreach and awareness, and with a focus on the Latino and underserved communities to promote and expand the Alzheimer's Association program and services by increasing engagement in the full mission. An ideal candidate will have a broad, established network in the community to build and expand our presence and engagement while mobilizing volunteers. This role will help position the Alzheimer's Association widely to increase community awareness about Alzheimer's disease and related dementias by engaging those disproportionately affected and promoting the Alzheimer's Association as the place to turn for all matters relating to Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.

    Responsibilities

    • Implement strategies that build community awareness of the Alzheimer's Association's services and resources in the Latino and underserved communities. Expand the utilization of programs and services in the chapter and partner with colleagues to expand overall reach in the community.
    • Serve as a community liaison and spokesperson at relevant community events to build collaborative partnerships with strategic partner agencies to reach new constituents.
    • Recruit and train volunteers to serve as community connectors and educators.
    • Schedule, plan, market, and oversee the delivery of core services and community forums to reach and serve the community
    • Develop and expand Latino national and chapter-wide partnerships to meet Key Performance Indicators for our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion priorities.
    • Collaborate with the communications department in marketing strategies to engage the Latino community on all communication channels. Foster full mission community engagement, including advocacy and signature events
    • Track and report statistics for grant requirements. Maintain current data and trackers and support data entry for internal databases to reflect accomplishments.

    Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work-related experience
    • 3+ years of experience and demonstrated success in outreach to the Latino and underserved communities.
    • Community mobilization and volunteer recruitment, and management experience
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Fully engage in a culture where team collaboration is highly valued
    • Work as a team to accomplish, if not exceed, organizational goals in the National Strategic Plan
    • Participate in signature fundraising events, Walk to End Alzheimer's and Do What You Love to End ALZ. Work at least two Walk events on the weekend.
    • Enhance our culture of diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the job
    • Promote and create opportunities for full mission engagement of volunteers
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with initiative
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills representing the Alzheimer's Association
    • Deadline and detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects and tasks
    • Ability to work with all communities and demonstrate inclusion
    • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for the job.
    • Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25lbs of materials.
    • Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products and social media; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn, Luminate/Convio software.
    • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory by car including working within the territory on a bi-weekly basis, or on occasion more frequently as required by the job. Travel in this case, is considered time spent away from the office, in the community, to fulfill the job goals. While most such travel is the same day, occasional overnight travel or air travel may be required.
    • Must have a valid driver's license, access to reliable vehicle, good driving record, and proof of automobile insurance.
