    Job Summary:

    The Payroll Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management and coordination of the department, including the accurate and timely payment of all weekly and semi-monthly US payrolls and associated payroll taxes. Responsibilities will also entail supervising the payroll staff, and collaborating with the finance, compensation, and benefits areas related to payroll activities. The selected candidate will have experience in a multi-state payroll environment.

    Major Job Responsibilities (not all inclusive):


    • Supervise activities of the Payroll Department staff. Evaluate and assign responsibilities in a developing environment. Provide timely performance evaluations and feedback on an ongoing basis.

    • Maintain a high level of proficiency with employee maintenance items to fill in as back-up for department associates during vacation, sickness, etc.

    • Develop cross-training guidelines to promote adequate knowledge and appreciation levels across the staff.

    • Display proficient knowledge and use of UKG (Pro) HRIS software and WorkForce Software's time and attendance system.

    • Work in collaboration with the HRIS and Compensation Manager to provide maintenance of the HRIS and Time and Attendance systems. This includes reviewing and testing of all system updates.

    • Maintain user security for the UKG Web and BackOffice applications.

    • Coordination of the HRIS and time & attendance interfaces. Assist with program maintenance to ensure integrity of associated data.

    • Serve as Authorized Contact with UKG Software and WorkForce Software to resolve any system related issues that users may encounter.

    • Maintain a strong level of proficiency with the Cognos report writing tool. Use the tool to balance and validate payrolls before posting.

    • Maintain a working knowledge of the UKG import and export tools. Develop imports/exports using various file formats.

    • Specialized support for Performance Management, Succession Planning and Learning modules within UKG.

    • Provide system support to all plant locations for matters related to payroll processing, time & attendance, data maintenance, and other related inquiries.

    • Audit and approval of UKG's Payment Service transmissions for tax and garnishment payments along with related quarter and year-end reports.

    • Coordination of tasks related to internal customers (Accounting, HR, IT, etc.).

    • Coordinate the W-2 year-end process. Prepare a detailed task listing and communicate to the required participants.

    • Play a key role in any future system conversions or re-implementations.

    • Work in collaboration with the HRIS and Compensation Manager to plan and monitor HR departmental budget items.

    • Research payroll and payroll tax related issues and report findings.

    • Continuously seek process improvement. Analyze for best practices.

    • Perform various other duties assigned by the HRIS and Compensation Manager.

    • All other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Education/Job-related Experience:


    • A bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or equivalent.

    • Prefer 5-7 years of related payroll, tax, UKG Pro and WorkForce Software experience.

    • CPP designation a plus.

    Specialized Skills Required:


    • Accounting, payroll, tax, and HRIS experience (UKG Pro preferred).

    • Experience working with an automated time & attendance system (WorkForce Software Preferred).

    • Elevated level of proficiency with Cognos report writer and other data management tools. Ability to create adhoc reports and system imports/exports with little or no IT assistance.

    • Working knowledge of accounting principles, auditing concepts and controls.

    • Working knowledge of government compliance related to wage payment and payroll tax matters.

    • Accuracy, time management, organization and communication skills are essential.

    • The ability to interpret and communicate complex payroll and payroll tax issues to company personnel.

    • Customer service oriented.

    • Ability to work with numerous interruptions.

    • Proficient use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and related applications.


    • Eligible for hybrid work (the hybrid work schedule is provisional and may be modified, based on business needs)

    • A willingness to travel domestically as much as (10%) of the time.
