    The Pharmacy Automation Analyst assists with the managing, training, and monitoring of all automation systems used to enhance patient care.

    Responsible for developing data-rich tools to deliver insights on inventory optimization and management, etc. Assists the leadership in providing reports related to drug inventory, cabinet usage, and making necessary stock level adjustments.
    GENERAL DUTIESPharmacy Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs):Responsible for all aspects of the Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs). Builds and configures cabinets for each unit utilizing prior usage data. Monitors proper functionality and use of the ADCs and works with IT analyst or vendor for necessary repairs. Manages the cabinet databases, issues new user IDs, and removes all terminated employees from database. Works in partnership with leaders on drug inventory for each cabinet. Responsible for reviewing reports from cabinet usage and making necessary stock level adjustments. Collaborates with narcotics team members on narcotic usage and removals in the ADCs. Assists narcotics pharmacy team in resolving dispensing errors and loading cassettes for the Omni dispenser.

    Removes medications without order, routinely reviews and updates the cabinet data with Sound Alike/Look Alike and High Alert Drugs designations.

    Trains all pharmacy staff on usage of the ADCs. Serves as a resource to nursing services on reports generated from the ADCs. Reviews discrepancy reports and alerts respective managers on potential issues. Reviews and manages stock levels in ADCs to ensure adequate supply. Ensures high usage medications are communicated to the responsible person to assure adequate medication stocks. Assists in refilling and maintaining the cabinets as needed.

    Implementation and Planning of Pharmacy Automated Systems:
    Assists the pharmacy team in planning, coordinating, and implementing various activities for all of the pharmacy automation systems. Reports any newly developed automation systems that would enhance pharmacy services to pharmacy management team.


    Pharmacy Services:
    Assists in training the nursing services team on use of the ADCs when needed.

    Assists the pharmacy staff with services which includes delivering of stat medications, assisting the pharmacy staff in answering the phones, etc.


    EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONSRequired:
    2 years of experience in re-stocking Automated Dispensing Cabinets (Omnicell, Pyxis, etc.) as a hospital pharmacy technician.


    Preferred:
    2 years of pharmacy carousel or repackaging experience; managing/building Automated Dispensing Cabinets

    EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONSRequired:
    Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Pharmacy Technology, or related field.


    Preferred:
    Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology
