    Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for a Senior Technical Analyst for Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP).


    The primary function of this position will be to manage the planning, engineering and evaluation of routine to intermediate new and existing information technology (IT) network/system projects based on SMECO's Corporate Plan, the IT Strategic Plan, the Information Security Program, and use specifications.

    The position will oversee problem resolution of network hardware and software; assesses emerging technologies and develops technical standards, which are complex in nature.

    With a primary focus on Network Administration, this position will manage the IT Help Desk, IT Equipment administration and assist with risk management along with other IT team members.

    For the position of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) at an electric utility like SMECO, the ideal candidate merges a robust skill set with a nuanced understanding of the sector's demands.

    This role requires not only specific technical proficiencies but also a comprehensive grasp of cybersecurity principles, a vigilant attention to detail, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

    The starting salary range for this position is $90,900-$117,800.

    SMECO offers an excellent benefits program including a 401k 6% dollar for dollar match and additional 3% non-elective company contribution.

    Bachelor's or advanced degree in an information technology/computer science related field. Preferred certifications include CCNA and/or Network+.

    Experience:
    Minimum four years progressive experience in network administration and support, preferably in a CIP-regulated environment.

    Technical Skills:

    • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking
    • CCNA Routing and Switching
    • Strong understanding of network and host security.
    • Experience with VMware and SRM.
    • Experience with Storage Area Networks, EMC VNX a plus.
    • Experience as a Windows System Administrator
    • Experience with setting up routing and VLANs
    • Experience with VPNs
    • Experience with firewalls, preferably CISCO
    • Knowledge of network configuration, installation, and upgrade procedures.
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting network systems, identifying and resolving technical issues effectively.
    • Knowledge of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) or National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) policies, procedures, and compliance requirements preferred.
    • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on CIP and network support best practices.
    • Knowledge of wireless networks
