Job Summary:

Registered Nurses in Surgical Services provide patient care utilizing the nursing process, collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired outcomes. They interact effectively with patients and their significant others, upholding professional nursing standards. Registered Nurses deliver direct and individualized nursing care based on scientific nursing principles, and they must be proficient in managing a wide variety of health conditions due to the diverse medical issues encountered.

In addition to patient care, Registered Nurses are expected to participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives, adhering to the standards of the Texas Nurse Practice Act.

Surgical Services Registered Nurses care for patients undergoing surgical procedures across various specialties. They must manage a range of surgical conditions and adjust to the fast-paced, dynamic nature of the surgical environment, prioritizing patient care to maintain safety and efficiency.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Education:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program

Minimum Work Experience:

No previous experience required

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Registered Nurse
ACLS to be completed within 90 days of hire
PALS or ENPC to be completed within 6 months of hire
BLS - must be completed before initiating patient contact
Additional relevant certifications as needed (e.g., CNOR)

Self-initiative: actively contribute to surgical flow and throughput
Sense of urgency: provide safe, efficient, and effective care regardless of surgical complexity or volume
Adaptability: adjust constantly to meet surgical schedule changes and volume intensity
Professional appearance and decorum at all times
Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
