- Establishes continuous improvement goals and executes action plans
- Provide Engineering support for the manufacturing daily especially in manufacturing processes, quality and equipment functionality, uptime and KPIs management
- Utilizes proven lean manufacturing abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased quality, workflow improvements, estimating, project analysis, technology development and core manufacturing skill set
- Train production, technician, and support staff and new processes
- Supports DOE, 8D, FMEA, 6 Sigma and DFP analysis and implementation of Kaizen activities
- Works with Product development/Design team to revise, and sustain Fall Protection Equipment product designs, utilizing knowledge of mechanical engineering principles; provide manufacturing technical resource to Design Project teams
- Develop and manage project schedules related to existing product launches or design modifications
- Document product designs by preparing bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requests
- Assist NPD team in redesigning internal components to improve overall long-term product quality, improve efficiency and reduce cost
- Develop engineering solutions to product related issues through problem solving and root cause analysis techniques
- Participate on cross functional teams to launch product modifications, resolve issues, and support product improvements
- Develop suppliers for manufacturing equipment, develop key suppliers, create an environment of continuous improvement in equipment UPTIME, EFFICIENCY & QUALITY
- Create preventive maintenance that effectively maintains the equipment in optimal form without the need for short cutting the quality or machine capability
- Perform other job duties as required by manager
- 2 + years in a production/manufacturing engineer role
- 5 + years of product design in assembly Fall Protection Equipment environment preferred, or safety equipment industry
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Computer Technology and/or Engineering- preferred- Year of Experience In Manufacturing/Fall Protection Equipment manufacturing may be considered
- Six Sigma certification preferred
- Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of manufacturing engineering theory, processes, and practice
- Skilled in at least two or more of the following areas – Fall Protection Equipment (Hard and Soft Good), Assembly processes and or Manufacturing Engineering support in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of specifications and standards used in the Fall Protection industry – strongly preferred
- Lean manufacturing concepts - Kaizen, value stream mapping, Kanban, demand flow technology; line balancing & time studies
- Expert on core manufacturing documentation – PFMEAs, PCPs, PFDs, DFA/DFM, and all aspects of manufacturing in a high-volume environment and engineering change processes
- Software skills including MS Office Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Epicor
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills and compliance oriented and attention to detail
- Effective project management skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to deliver the message to any level of the organization – with clarity and preciseness required at each level
- Effective interpersonal & collaboration skills and ability to work with teams
