    The Position

    Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.

    The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is recruiting for a Management Analyst III within the Office of Analytics in Carson City.

    The incumbent will be responsible for the analysis of various social services and health program data including medical claims data and developing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring advanced analytic, computational, and predictive modeling tools for DHHS social service programs, following a traditional data science lifecycle.

    The data science lifecycle includes gathering and storing data; processing and converting raw data into clean, organized information; developing tools and processes for analysis; applying techniques to produce findings from structured and unstructured data; and communicating the data.

    The results of the work this analyst will do will cross various program and service areas in DHHS.

    The incumbent maintains data quality and control and completes all requests related to social services and health program data from internal and external partners within specified timeframes in a fast-paced working environment under minimal supervision.

    Assignments will include gathering data from multiple sources, data processing, exploratory data analysis, anomaly detection, measurement, unstructured data analysis, interpretation of findings, predictive and prescriptive modeling, presentation, and system automation.

    This position will also assist in preparing comprehensive reports that include discussion of substantive issues related to data science methodology for public health surveillance and related applications, assessment of the adequacy and quality of data used in the analyses, explanation of the methods, results, and relevance to the issue under study, as well as model outputs, findings, and recommendations; supports the preparation of technical reports and data files for publication or other public dissemination; produces static and interactive data visualizations to communicate findings to internal and external audiences; prepares materials for presentations to other analytical staff and to federal, state, and local health program managers and state officials such as the Nevada Legislature and Governor's Office.

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience which included budgeting, accounting, and/or economic or management analysis and projections; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    Special Requirements

    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

    This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint-based background check as a condition of appointment and as condition of continuing employment.
