Job Description
The Commercial Supply Chain Manager will lead the overall management of Cell and Gene Therapy supply chain activities required to support slot management including capacity planning and slot scheduling.
In this role, the Manager will create the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) slide deck and lead the slot management process in support of global clinical subjects, commercial patients, and CMC Manufacturing needs.
The Manager will gather manufacturing and regulatory assumptions, drive capacity planning scenarios, and maintain the Master Production Schedule to drive capacity utilization and meet patient demand.
The Manager will lead the creation, tracking, and adherence to regulatory and CDMO jurisdictional requirements to ensure oversight and accurate patient scheduling.
The Manager will lead daily operations to create ATCs as suppliers and enter apheresis batch data within OPM.The Manager will be the lead business partner in the design, selection, and implementation of a Slot Management Tool.
Within this role, the Manager will ensure there are robust processes, clear communications, and cross-functional alignment for all autologous scheduling, including regulatory jurisdictional oversight and CDMO partnerships.
The Manager will work closely with key stakeholders including Clinical Operations, Global Commercial Operations, Quality, Finance, Regulatory, Logistics, Manufacturing, and Vertex's Cell and Gene Therapy teams.
This is a Hybrid position that requires 3 days/week onsite in Boston.Key Responsibilities:
Ownership of Supply Chain activities associated with slot management such as meetings, maintaining the master production schedule, and system implementation/ maintenance as a business partner.
Lead communications and meetings with CDMOs, regulatory, and Manufacturing for output of available capacity and input of scheduled manufacturing runs.
Reviews and creates SOPs required to support clinical and commercial Cell and Gene Therapy Supply Chain slot management.Leads Supply Chain Cell and Gene Therapy
initiatives/workstreams,
such as capacity planning and scheduling, to support program growth
Interacts with Finance to develop budgets and manage costs for supply chain activities
Key business partner for slot scheduling tool, supporting end to end SME responsibility for business requirements, configuration design, implementation, testing, and training.
Supports business requirements and testing of capacity modeling toolSupports the Supply Chain team's development of Cell and Gene Therapy strategies including vendor selection and program scalability.
Utilizes appropriate software and IT systems to effectively manage key project activities, such as OCELLOS/Vertex Connects Portal, Coupa, OPM, CODEC+, and future systems
Key business partner for monthly S&OP including capacity planning, assumptions, reporting of actuals and KPIs
Takes full responsibility within scope of the position and/or materials or projects managed to work with various cross-functional groups (such as Quality, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, CDMOs, etc.)
Minimal Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a scientific or business discipline
5 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated experience managing projects in the pharmaceutical industry.
Work experience must include some of the following:
drug development, project management, clinical trials management, pharmaceutical
manufacturing/packaging
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other functional areas such as Pharmaceutical Development, Technical Operations, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Quality Assurance/Control
Good understanding of supply chain
concepts/methods/theories
and strong knowledge of regulations relating to pharmaceutical supply chain activities (cGMP, GCP, import/export, computer systems/Part 11)
Strong project management skills and proficient at managing, tracking, and measuring project progress.
Displays proven effectiveness in managing customer expectations, communicating in complex or sensitive situations and influencing/guiding others
Developing an expertise in a specific supply chain discipline (e.g., production planning, clinical supplies, logistics, ERP/MRP systems administration)
Proficient with use of applicable software systems
Proficient to advanced Excel and Power BI skills
