- The Emergency Department Technician provides the services of an observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his/her safety.
- The Emergency Department Technician cleans stretchers/equipment and restocks supplies.
- Keeps patients and families informed regularly and prn.
- Observes and reports patient's status and needs.
- Answers call lights and attends to/reports patient needs.
- As an Emergency Department Technician, you will obtain weights, vital signs, reports and documents results electronically.
- The Emergency Department Technician performs urine testing.
- The ED Technician obtains specimens and transport to and sends through designated tube system.
- The ED Technician labels samples correctly.
- The ED Technician assists patient with feeding/meals.
- Assists patients with elimination needs.
- Transfers, moves, and repositions patients by utilizing transfer devices and equipment.
- Makes occupied/unoccupied beds.
- Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Assists with post mortem care including transport to the morgue
- Performs 1-1 observation as assigned.
- Performs Venipuncture to obtain blood specimens.
- Appropriately documents care provided.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Basic Arrhythmia Course prior to completing orientation.
- Training/equivalent experience as a nursing assistant, CNA, EMT, medical assistant preferred.
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
- Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and computers preferred.
- Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
- Walking, standing, squatting and kneeling required.
- Ability to lift and position patients.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Exposure to body fluids.
- Category 1 exposure risk as defined by OSHA.

The Emergency Department Technician will work Full Time, nights (7pm - 7am) and will assist in patient care throughout nursing areas and will be responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.

Pay Range
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.
Pay Range Minimum:
USD $16.65/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:
USD $24.97/Hr.
