    Summary of Duties & Responsibilities

    The Software Engineering Manager will lead and evolve our engineering discipline across teams. You will leverage your expertise, experience, and passion to create and foster a high performing team that delivers quality and excellence to our clients.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, extensive development experience in designing, developing, and implementing high performing, scalable SaaS applications built on AWS and Azure. With an authentic leadership style, you will be able to advance a culture of innovation, professional development, and continuous improvement.

    Essential Functions

    Domain Knowledgedeep expertise and knowledge in strategic and tactical planning, technical domain knowledge, as well as governance of software engineering standards, processes, policies, and procedures

    • Plan and establish goals, objectives, and strategies to improve teams engineering delivery excellence
    • Establish, document and train on methodology and best practices
    • In cooperation with Director of Engineering, implement, evolve and enforce team processes, procedures, and standards in order to drive and establish repeatable, reliable delivery of best-in-class solutions
    • Develop operational metrics and reporting frameworks to drive operational execution, transparency and efficiency
    • Deep understanding of mature engineering practices with a focus on continuous improvement

    • Continuously assess, prioritize and advocate for the reduction of technical debt
    • Coordinate with Technical Lead on organizing, planning and executing the teams work

    Talent Management – solidexpertise and knowledge in resource management and staff performance management

    • Responsible for supervising, monitoring, coaching, growing, disciplining and appraising individual performance
    • Adjust the recruiting process as needed to identify, attract and hire highly skilled, qualified candidates
    • Frequently monitor individual and team results to identify and proactively communicate development opportunities
    • Monitor and enforce compliance of all Company and Group policies and procedures
    • In collaboration with the Director of Engineering and Product Directors:
    • Identify, interview and hire the appropriate staff needed for the team
    • Develop the appropriate goals and objectives for individual staff, and measure the results in a quarterly appraisal process
    • Develop a training plan that supports the goals and objectives for the team in collaboration with the corporate training function
    • Provide career counseling and feedback to staff and team as appropriate
    • Review and approve weekly timesheets and PTO requests for the team

    Technical Skills

    • This role does not require active coding, but qualified candidates must have the skills to operate as a software engineer. Proficiency in the following is required:
    • AWS products: S3, EC2, Lambda's, VPC's, IAM, Cognito, CloudWatch, Xray, Step Functions, and API Gateway.
    • Azure products: Logic Apps, APIM, Key Vault, Azure Tables, SDK, Service Bus, and App Service
    • Designing and building API's, SDK's, installers, and integration frameworks
    • Proficiency in C#, Angular (or other FE technology), and SQL
    • CI/CD pipelines using automated build, testing, and deployment processes to facilitate frequent and reliable software releases in a mature development setting
    • Optimizing software performance and scalability through profiling, tuning, and architectural improvements, ensuring applications can handle increasing loads and maintain responsiveness over time.

    Location

    • We will consider candidates within the approved states but prioritize candidates that live in Florida or are willing to relocate. We do offer relocation expenses.
    • If remote, must be willing to travel to Tampa one week a month and/or as needed. During the first couple months while onboarding they may be asked to come 2-3 weeks a month.

    Job History

    • Should have a stable job history. 4-5 years of service per employer is sufficient. Would like to know why they have left opportunities in the past and why they are on the market
    • Folks that have worked for product companies generally have been exposed to more mature engineering processes
    • Candidates should be able to demonstrate how they led teams through change and articulate positive benefits

    Qualifications

    • 5+ yeas experience as a Manager is required
    • 8+ years as an engineer is required
    • Candidates should have advanced knowledge of how CI/CD pipelines work. They don't need experience building pipelines but should be fluent with understanding how they operate
    • All roles require knowledge of optimizing software performance and troubleshooting performance issues
