    Overview Nakupuna Consulting is looking for an entry level Environmental Scientist to assure that all environmental goals are attained
    This position is based in Honolulu, Hawaii
    Responsibilities The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned

    • Perform a variety of duties involving the execution, management, coordination, monitoring and oversight of environmental projects
    • Assist in planning, managing, and conducting environmental restoration projects such as investigations, designs, remediations, and long-term management and maintenance of hazardous materials/waste and military munitions sites
    • Assist in planning, managing, and conducting environmental compliance projects such as Environmental Condition of Property (ECP) investigations, Land Use Feasibility Assessments (LUFAs), Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Assessments, and NEPA documents such as Categorical Exclusions, and Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs)
    • Assist in planning, managing, and conducting outreach for environmental projects such as preparing community/public outreach materials and presentations as well as presenting technical topics to the regulators, community and public
    • Assist in conducting project and contract management of environmental projects, including complying with scopes of work, developing and managing project schedules, and performing financial management such as preparing invoices, monthly/periodic status reports, and preparing cost estimates for environmental projects
    • Responsible for preparing technical reports, development and oversight of remedial/removal actions, field sampling and field procedures of soil and groundwater investigations, and oversight of munitions response project
    • Prepare cost and technical proposals for potential contracts
    Support business development initiatives for the environmental business line
    Network with potential teaming partners and clients


    • Manage client expectations and maintains routine communication with clients and regulatory agencies
    • Travel to project sites is required Qualifications Skills/Qualifications: Ability to professionally interact with managers, coworkers, field operations staff, technical staff, and subcontractors
    Capable of supporting development of or writing project work plans, health and safety plans, etc
    Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
    Self-motivated, able to function as part of a team, able to think critically
    Additionally, must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record as evidenced by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
    Military Installation Access and

    Security Clearance:
    This position requires access to military installations
    Must be able to qualify for and obtain a base access pass and currently hold or able to obtain a security clearance
    Must be a U.S citizen

    Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental science, biology, engineering, or related field from an accredited school required
    Master's degree is preferred but not required

    Certifications:
    No pre-hire certifications are required; however, current OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus

    The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location
    The projected compensation range for this position is $54,000.00 to $70, Annually USD)

    The good faith hourly range displayed represents the position at time of posting and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
