    Job DescriptionThe Welder directly reporting to their Weld Shop Supervision.

    An Individual employed in this position is considered to possess a prerequisite amount of knowledge, attitude, predictable, receptive, proceduralized tasks involving motor skills and limited theoretical knowledge while working under close supervision.

    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Actively participates in the NOV Welding Program.

    This is a comprehensive set of minimum standards and guidelines necessary to standardize the training and qualification of Level I - Welder.

    Execute activities following the daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Perform work tasks with safety as the highest priority, followed by quality, productivity and expedient delivery.

    Maintain a continuous improvement attitude towards work environment and training.

    Follow the facility and Corporate policies on attendance, vacation, work ethics, cell phones, wearing of uniforms and promotion of a safe/professional work environment.

    Understand and apply NOV Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) Perform visual weld inspection and testing. Follow applicable facility SOP's in support of the Quality Management System. Follow written procedure/policy.


    JOB SUMMARYPosition, rework, fit and weld according to written and typed instructions, blueprints, manufacturer's specifications and knowledge of characteristics of metal.

    Select equipment and plan layout, fabrication, assembly and welding.
    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Lay out, position, align and fit components together using applicable machines, tools and equipment. Will need to learn to run our ARC6 auto tig welding machine. Bolt, clamp and tack-weld parts to secure them in position for final welding. Set up and weld parts using welding equipment.

    Maintain sufficient knowledge of geometry, arithmetic, structural design, heat effects and allowances for thickness of metal to project location of holes, cuts and bends from blueprints, written and typed instructions and manufacturer's specifications.

    Use hand tools and be able to correctly setup and operate applicable shop machines.

    Perform arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting and brazing on various ferrous and nonferrous metals, in accordance with established methods and procedures.

    Maintain production documentation per required procedure. Perform other work related tasks as assigned. Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.


    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS Will need to pass a 6G welding test with GTAW root and hot pass and SMAW fill and cap.

    High School diploma or GED Ability to read, speak and comprehend the English language Pass NOV welding pre-hire practical test and written assessment Meet NOV welder performance qualification requirements.

    Minimum of 1 year verifiable welding experience. Must be able to pass a multi-position weld qualification test.

    Basic knowledge of the different weld process (SMAW, and FCAW, or GMAW or SAW or GTAW) Preferred certified to AWS Schools Excelling through National Skill Standards Education (SENSE) program for Level 1 Welder.

    TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES Ability to perform quality welds that meet drawing WPS requirements and meet NOV's SOP quality standards. Identify weld discontinuities and defects and apply what has been learned to correct those defects. Pass safety test based on ANSI Z49.1. Ability to properly perform basic setup, maintenance, and usage of welding equipment.
