    Parkland Heath Center is offering an opportunity for a PRN Speech Language Pathologist to join their team and work a flexible schedule. The position involves working in an outpatient setting with a chance for occasional inpatient duties. Joining the BJC Team at Parkland promises an enriching experience.

    Overview

    Being a part of BJC HealthCare, Parkland Health Center stands out for its blend of outstanding medical services and a strong local presence, tracing back to the legacy of its predecessors - Bonne Terre Hospital (established in 1911), Mineral Area Regional Medical Center (1952), and Farmington Community Hospital. Parkland Health Center operates two facilities in St. Francois County, Missouri: a comprehensive acute care hospital in Farmington and a rural emergency hospital in Bonne Terre. The center offers top-notch primary and secondary inpatient and outpatient healthcare services to the residents of St. Francois County and neighboring regions in southeastern Missouri. Additionally, the Farmington campus provides a full spectrum of inpatient services including medical-surgical care, intensive care, obstetrics, geriatric psychiatry, and emergency services. The facility also houses various outpatient services such as oncology, an infusion center, a wound care clinic, and the Huckstep Heart and Lung Center. Bonne Terre serves as a Rural Emergency Hospital, catering to emergency and outpatient medical services like observation, lab tests, radiology, and sleep studies. Outpatient Therapy services extend support to patients in need of speech, occupational, and physical therapy based on physician referrals.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Role Purpose

    The Registered Speech Pathologist/Speech Therapist delivers specialized speech and swallow therapy services to patients, covering all aspects of evaluation and treatment.

    Responsibilities

    • Developing treatment plans and administering treatments with consideration to patients' discharge requirements, functional status upon discharge, and the necessary equipment and supplies.
    • Providing education, collaborating, and consulting with patients, families, and healthcare colleagues to suggest referrals to specialists when necessary.
    • Assigning tasks to assistants, technicians, and students by effectively communicating through written and verbal instructions, assessing their competency to ensure optimal patient care.
    • Completing documentation as per departmental guidelines.
    • Conducting assessments, reassessments, and consultations for Speech Services.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

    • Master's Degree in Speech Pathology

    Experience

    • No prior experience required

    Supervisor Experience

    • No prior supervisory experience needed

    Licenses & Certifications

    • Must hold a valid Speech-Language Pathologist license

    Preferred Requirements
