    Pre-Anesthesia Coordinator / Registered Nurse
    Pre Admit Testing

    PRN

    Job Summary:
    Provides direct and indirect patient care. Communicates effectively with patients in preparation for their preadmission experience.

    Works with physicians, preoperative nursing staff and ancillary departments to coordinate any preadmission testing, post test documentation and further needed interventions to facilitate a seamless preadmission experience.

    Acts as preadmission interview RN for all surgical patients. Gathers all medical information for review of the anesthesiologist to assure safe and effective anesthesia during the surgical procedures. Completes an in-depth nursing history and follows anesthesia guidelines for ordering preadmission tests.


    Education:
    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.


    Certification/Licensure Requirements:
    Mississippi Board of Nursing or compact state licensure as a registered nurse.


    Experience:
    One year as a general duty RN is desirable. Demonstrates proficiency and independance in the care of patients with complex diagnoses and nursing problems.


    Langauge/Communication Skills:
    English required. Multi-lingual capabilites enhance the ability to perform this job.

    Must have the ability to speak effectively and professionally to all staff, management, and all outside individuals at all levels from elementary to professional.

    Must be able to communicate with various personalities. Must be personalbe and able to provide compassion and caring. Must possess organizational skills adaptable to daily scheduling.


    Mathematical Skills:


    Must be able to apply basic and advanced mathematical skills in an effort to calculate medications, IV drip rates and medication dosages.


    Reasoning Ability:
    Must have the ability to apply non-judgmental reasoning capabilities whenever necessary when dealing with patients, staff, and visitors. Critical thinking and multitaking skills a must. Must have reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do.

    Must possess purposeful, self-regulatory judgment which results in interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference, as well as explanation of the evidential, conceptual, methodological, criteriological, or contextual considerations upon which that judgment is based.
