    Federal Signal has an immediate opening for an Field Application Engineer based at our University Park, Illinois location. This position will be responsible for using their product knowledge and expertise to develop unique customer solutions that focus on the use of the latest FS technologies and capabilities.

    Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. Help clients to solve problems with product usage.
    2. Work with the customers, Sales and Engineers to ensure the equipment meets the product requirements.
    3. Communicate with the sales team to understand consumer demands and offer sales support where necessary.
    4. Prepare and give technical presentations to explain to customers how the products work Establish customer rapport and acceptance.
    5. Recommend new and improved products to the customers and explain how the equipment will be more cost-effective.
    6. Collaborating with the production and engineering departments of the company to determine how products and services could be made or modified to suit the needs of the customer.
    7. Using technical skills to demonstrate to potential customers the usefulness of the product and how it may suit the customer better than competing products.
    8. Provide feedback to business unit personnel concerning the overall business environment, product ratings within the market, pricing, product mix, technology, market trends, etc., and how to resolve procedural, sales distribution, delivery and service problems.
    9. Contribute positively to the corporate bottom line through effective expense control.
    10. Help coordinate the setup of new part numbers in the JDE System.
    11. Perform other related duties as assigned.
    Position Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology or related course of study
    • 3+ years of experience in technical position.
    • Customer interface experience in automotive, fleet, or related field preferred.
    • Intermediate knowledge of automotive electrical systems & vehicle wiring.
    • Ability to multi-task with a high degree of attention to detail and follow-through
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
    • Strong customer service & trouble-shooting capabilities using multiple channels
    • Valid Driver's License.
    • Ability to Travel 30%
