    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Review customer work order and pull available prints/standard work to determine the required assembly components and/or special options.
    2. Generate routings for Elgin Sweeper product using lean principles to avoid incurring unnecessary cost to the product.
    3. Serve as lead manufacturing engineer for the assembly area. Providing proper documentation, training, and communication of product/process related information to line supervision and shop personnel.
    4. Suggest and work with Design Engineering to make improvements in the design of product or system to improve quality and the manufacturability driving cost reductions.
    5. Utilize lean principles to implement changes as a leader, participant, and initiator.
    6. Lead process improvements projects in a production environment.
    7. Investigate and make recommendations on the procurement of equipment to improve the manufacturing process and/or assembly of Elgin Sweeper products.
    8. Process Engineering Change Notices in a timely manner, update standard work to incorporate those changes, and communicate those changes to the appropriate shop personnel.
    9. Improve safety throughout the facility by identifying safety risks, reducing material handling, improving ergonomics, and analyzing current and proposed manufacturing processes for any opportunities for improvement.
    10. Develop and maintain standard work for assigned areas.
    11. Process employee action items, non-conforming material, and Corrective Action Requests in a timely manner.
    12. Provide assistance to Marketing, Procurement, etc when specific manufacturing information/representation is needed as support.
    13. Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects as assigned.
    Position Requirements
    • Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university required.
    • Minimum of 2 years experience in manufacturing required.
    • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes that include assembly and sub-assembly of heavy equipment required.
    • Experience in a production environment required: line balancing and facility layout highly desired.
    • Minimum of 2 years demonstrated project management experience and skills with results in achieving targeted deliverables in product performance, cost and schedule required.
    • Prior pull systems or cellular manufacturing experience is preferred.
    • Must possess and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must be PC literate with daily working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets.
    • Experience in using AutoCAD required. Experience with JD Edwards is a plus.
    • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis is a plus.
