- Performs non-invasive examinations, i.e., electrocardiograph (EKG) signal averaging; application and scanning of Holter monitors. Assists in setting up patient for exercise/treadmill tests: nuclear medicine, stress echoes and non-treadmill dobutamine echoes.
- Communicates purpose and procedures related to the examinations to the patient and comforts/reassures patient about the examination. Notifies physician if patient is in distress or if hemodynamic status is deteriorating .
- Ensures non-invasive equipment is appropriately maintained and notifies appropriate personnel regarding malfunctions. Logs repairs, service and/or adjustments, as required. Serves as resource to Electrocardiograph Technicians (EKG Techs) as relates to their activities in the Nuclear Medicine Department. Compiles monthly statistics.
- Assists nurses and/or fellows with dobutamine and stress echoes, as needed. Participates in the development of effective Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) activities to improve quality of care. Attends conferences and meetings to maintain /expand clinical knowledge base of non-invasive test procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 6 to 12 months experience in cardiac arrhythmias and exercise testing.
- May require up to 1 year of technical or other specialized training, such as in arrhythmia and exercise testing and medical terminology
