    Job Summary

    Under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT), the COTA assists in the provision of occupational therapy to students. The COTA will assist OTs with assessment,intervention, and treatment to enhance fine and gross motor, visual motor and perceptual skills, sensory processing and modulation, and activities of daily living. The COTA will perform other duties that fall within their scope of practice under the supervision of an OT.

    Additional other duties as assigned related to emergency, crisis and/or pandemic.

    Requirements / Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:
    - Associate of Science degree or higher from an accredited college or university with an educational program approved by CBOT and accredited by the American Occupational Therapy.
    - Association's Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). COTA must maintain certification w/the California Board of Occupational Therapy throughout employment;
    - Valid certification issued by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

    Knowledge of:
    - Effective oral and written communication skills to appropriately interact with students, parents, supervisors, school staff, and community agencies;
    - Behavior management strategies and techniques; working with students individually and in groups; scheduling of student services to meet IEP requirements;
    - Appropriate data collection procedures; screening and assessment tools; theory and practice of occupational therapy as it relates to children and adolescents; occupational therapy strategies/methodologies in educational settings.

    Must complete Mandated Reporter Training- School Personnel module AFTER 07/01st. When you apply for this position, you will receive an email attachment with the details of this training.

    Work Week: Monday- Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
