    Summary:

    The primary responsibility of this position is to successfully execute cross-functional project management on parts development and related initiatives, required to meet operations objectives.

    The Project Buyer will also interface with suppliers, engineering, project teams and manufacturing personnel as required to meet and exceed operational goals and customer service requirements.

    This role will support both new project launches and productivity programs in partnership with Global Supply Chain and Purchasing teams to reach Site and Value Center goals.

    Essential Responsibilities

    Define and implement Project Purchasing Strategy in close alignment with business goals on Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery.

    Observe Commodity Management roadmaps, influence / challenge updates as needed and move ahead with project execution in collaboration with Global Supply Chain team.

    Maintain control of project purchasing scope throughout all its phases (Business Case, Retro-planning, RFQ, Supplier award definition, Contract negotiation, Part / Pattern development, Samples follow-up, Parts approval documentation, PO / Contract setup, Ramp-up monitoring, Handover for production buyers).

    Effectively utilize templates and checklists to ensure ERP parameters such as lead-time, lot sizes, reorder points, etc. will support on-time performance during production stage.
    Analyze and help improve accuracy on performance management KPIs in order to drive internal and external cross-functional accountability.

    Negotiate purchase orders, LOAs, LOIs, contracts, delivery schedule, purchase order modifications, and control open orders to assure timely performance from suppliers in scope.

    Systematically assess, identify, anticipate and mitigate supplier risks.
    Engage with suppliers to balance capacity and requirements and satisfy on-time performance as well as target inventory levels.
    Lead interface with suppliers to enable Supplier Development Engineer reviews as well as appropriate retro-planning of project activities.
    Apply self and cross-functional rigor to drive positive results while instilling a culture of respect, collective learning and collaboration.

    Keep control of PPAPs, Exceptions, Minutes of Meetings and related documents to be stored accordingly on Supplier Portal and other systems.

    Challenge status quo on cost and drive target savings initiatives cross-functionally.

    Document lessons learned periodically and display a continuous improvement mindset, helping drive better policies, procedures and initiatives for the business.

    Take part in related initiatives aiming at continuous improvement for purchasing processes.
    Communicate / Report weekly on each assigned project progress.

    Position Requirements

    Bachelor's degree is required; Or combination of education and equivalent purchasing experience is required.
    5+ years of related purchasing experience is required
    Experience in Lean processes, inventory management and materials/purchasing are required
    Knowledge of cost breakdown, Incoterms, price formation are required
    Knowledge of machining, castings or fabrication manufacturing processes are required
    Proficient in MS Office
    Experience with APQP and NPI process in manufacturing environments is highly preferred
    Some background in supplier qualification of external processes is preferred
    Enterprise and Supply chain risk management skills are preferred
    Experience with MRP, forecasting and stocking levels is preferred
    Purchasing certification and/or specialization is preferred
    Graduate degree in relevant field is preferred

    The salary offered to a candidate is based several factors such as candidate experience and qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations.

    Equal Pay Act Range

    Annual Salary range is $78,100 to 116,900 plus benefits an incentive plans.
