    SSE:
    Steady State Engineering, PLLC (SSE) focuses on the missing middle gap between traditional engineering focused companies and systems integrators.

    SSE provides automation engineering and design services to a variety of industries mostly in the North and South Carolina areas, with a heavy focus in the greater RTP area.

    Industries include pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals, water/waste water, food & beverage, semiconductor, and others.

    SSE is a young and fast-growing organization and is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join the team to provide support focused on instrumentation & controls design.

    This individual would have direct impact and visibility with the senior leadership team. SSE is an employee focused organization with direct and hands-on project involvement.


    The Role:
    Senior Project Consultant / Instrumentation & Controls (I&C)

    EngineerFull-time W2 positionLocation:
    greater RTP area, North CarolinaSSE is a fully remote organization.

    The candidate would be expected to primarily work from their home office and travel locally as needed to job sites in the RTP, NC area.

    Act as a lead engineer in the design and specification of control systems.
    Act as a subject matter expert (SME).Review work product of and mentor less experienced team members.


    Key Responsibilities:
    Be able to act as a lead engineer to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders on complex projects.
    Coordinate directly with clients and external vendors to solve problems and create deliverables for the project.

    Review and extract pertinent information from Piping & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs) as well as help create or update similar drawings as needed.

    Be responsible for deliverables such as instrument/equipment indexes, instrument datasheets, PLC/DCS card-edge drawings, instrument loop sheets, electrical conduit/cable schedules and riser drawings, control panel design and specification, network drawings, and validation documentation (IQ/OQ).

    Assist in all phases of the project lifecycle including:
    pre-bid walk downs, cost estimate development, design, design reviews, installation/oversight, startup, and validation of systems

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline with industry work experience.
    SSE may consider alternative educational background with proven work experience record.
    PE license or EIT preferred but not required.
    Minimum 5 years I&C or automation design experience.
    Candidate must be highly detailed oriented, able to work independently or as part of a team, and be self-motivating.

    Candidate must be able to handle multiple simultaneous projects and be able to coordinate closely with project managers to provide timely updates and prioritize work.

    Control systems design experience involving PLC and/or DCS systems required. Allen-Bradley and/or Emerson DeltaV highly preferred.
    Familiarity with specification of motors and motor controls, including VFDs, MCCs, and starters.
    Familiarity with specification of instruments and valves.

    Familiarity with NEC including Section 500 Hazardous Areas including design and mitigation strategies such as explosion protection, intrinsic safety, etc.

    Previous experience in validated or regulated industries such as pharma, food/bev, etc preferred but not required.
    AutoCAD Electrical experience a plus, but not required.

    Candidate would work directly with CAD designers and be able to produce clear redlines and communicate design intent and concepts to drafting team.

    Programming experience a plus, but not required.
    Candidate should have a dedicated home office space and ability to focus and work in a remote WFH environment.

    SSE will provide required computer equipment (laptop, monitors, printer, iPad, etc).At this time SSE is not sponsoring applicants for work authorization/work Visas.
