    Position Overview


    Davey Resource Group (DRG) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Utility Locator to join our team. As a Utility Locator, you will be responsible for locating and marking underground utility lines to ensure their safety and prevent damage during construction or excavation projects. This is a vital role in ensuring the integrity of utility systems and the safety of workers.

    Job Duties

    • Utilize client work prints and electromagnetic locate equipment to safely and accurately locate underground fiber and copper facilities.
    • Collaborate with the DRG operations team and underground subcontractors to schedule locates in KY and GA, and be flexible to travel between both locations.
    • Maintain accurate records of utility locations to include redlines and photographs.
    • Conduct a safety assessment at each job site to identify potential hazards or issues.
    • Must be able to speak in depth to the concepts and methodologies of precision electromagnetic locating, and be highly proficient in utilizing equipment provided by DRG
    • May perform other fiber construction operational duties as assigned, to include working with an aerial placement crew.

    Requirements

    • Ability to travel for work
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
    • High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism
    • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, bend, reach and to move or carry items weighing up to 25 lbs
    • Proficient use of field-based computers and tablets
    • Ability to proficiently use a handheld/backpack GPS unit and locate utility poles and underground utility lines accurately
    • Knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Presentations, Forms)
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access)
    • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings related to utility systems
    • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and in various hours of the day or night and holidays as required
    • Electric utility and telecommunications experience required

    Additional Information


    The ideal candidate would be comfortable with traveling from location to location within the client's service territory. Candidates must be comfortable working full time with a minimum of hours per week. Compensation based on experience.
