    Position Summary:

    The Staff Accountant will provide support to the Director of Finance in all areas of accounting at Alturas Analytics, Inc. This position will include accounts payable and accounts receivable responsibilities as well as financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting. Extensive software skills are required, as well as strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

    Essential Duties and Tasks:

    • Records and reconciles financial transactions in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations and general ledger entries.
    • Records and prepares budgets and forecasts as directed by Director of Finance
    • Records and provides monthly, quarterly, and/or annual financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements as directed by the Director of Finance
    • Processes payroll accurately and timely ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations; completes payroll reports
    • Provides support and oversight to other accounting staff
    • Identifies and recommends process improvements to improve quality and productivity
    • Communicates with clients regarding account status

    Additional Duties and Tasks:

    • Works with Director of Finance to prepare documents for audits
    • General office duties as needed or requested
    Requirements:

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • College degree in accounting or related field
    • 3-5 years' experience in an office setting preferred
    • Working knowledge of complete MS Office suite
    • Proficiency in accounting software such as Quickbooks and Excel
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify the appropriate personnel for this position

    Skills and Abilities Requirements:

    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices and understanding of GAAP principles
    • Skills in verbal and written communication
    • Skills in use and maintenance of office equipment
    • Ability to interact with co-workers, clients and visitors in a professional, cordial manner

    Physical Requirements:

    • Position requires sitting over 2/3 of the time
    • Position requires working in front of a computer monitor over 2/3 of the time
    • Position requires walking less than 1/3 of the time between departments/offices and buildings.
    • Position requires standing less than 1/3 of the time
