Job Title: Client Advocate – THPP-NMD Foster Care Program (Ages 18-21)
Location: Antelope Valley
Job Type: Full-Time/Part Time
Reports To: Program Administrator
Job Summary:
The Client Advocate serves as a trusted resource and support system for foster youth (ages in the Transitional Housing Placement Program for Non-Minor Dependents (THPP- NMD). This role focuses on empowering young adults by providing advocacy, guidance, and direct assistance in accessing housing, education, employment, healthcare, and other essential services. The Client Advocate works closely with program participants to ensure their rights and needs are met while promoting self-sufficiency and independence.
Key Responsibilities: Advocacy & Support
- Serve as a primary support person for youth, ensuring they have a voice in their own care and services.
- Advocate for youth in education, housing, healthcare, and employment settings to remove barriers and promote stability.
- Assist youth in understanding and navigating public assistance programs, community resources, and legal rights.
- Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and guidance in times of distress. Case Management & Goal Planning
- Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized Independent Living Plans (ILPs) with each youth.
- Help youth set and achieve short- and long-term goals related to education, employment, financial independence, and personal well-being.
- Monitor progress, provide encouragement, and adjust plans as needed.
- Coordinate with case managers, social workers, and other program staff to ensure youthreceive comprehensive services. Resource Navigation & Connection
- Connect youth to community resources, such as housing assistance, mental health services, transportation, and legal aid.
- Assist with job applications, college enrollment, and scholarship opportunities.
- Support youth in securing identification documents, financial aid, medical care, and other necessary resources.
- Collaborate with local agencies, businesses, and educational institutions to create opportunities for participants.Life Skills & Empowerment
- Provide one-on-one coaching and group workshops on financial literacy, communication, conflict resolution, and self-advocacy.
- Encourage and empower youth to become independent, confident, and capable decision-makers.
- Assist in teaching daily living skills, such as budgeting, scheduling appointments, and time management.Program Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and documentation.
- Track participant progress and report outcomes to program administrators.
- Ensure compliance with THPP-NMD guidelines, state regulations, and agencypolicies.Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in case management, advocacy, youth services, or foster care programs.
- Knowledge of: Foster care systems, THPP-NMD regulations, trauma-informed care, and youth empowerment strategies.
- Skills: Strong advocacy, communication, problem-solving, and crisis intervention skills.
- Other: Must pass a background check, have a valid driver's license, and reliabletransportation.Work Environment & Schedule:
- Full-time position with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Some travel required for home visits, court appointments, and community resourcecoordination.
Pay: $ $25.00 per hour
