Filmmaking Tenure Track Faculty
Salary: $81,176 - $112,865* annually

Supervisor: Interim Dean of SSH
Proposed Start Date: Fall Quarter 2026 (September)
Olympic College is currently recruiting for a Filmmaking Tenure Track Faculty who can join Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) division. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position responsible for teaching film production, post-production, cinematography, and audio production and post-production courses within the Filmmaking program at Olympic College. The position includes instruction at both the Associate of Applied Science–Transfer (AAS-T) and Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) levels. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development, student advising, assessment, and shared governance, and will support a student-centered, equitable learning environment.
Essential Functions
- Teach a range of Filmmaking courses at the AAS-T and BAS levels, including film production, cinematography, post-production, and audio production/post-production.
- Deliver instruction in in-person, hybrid, and/or online modalities as assigned.
- Prepare syllabi, assignments, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with program and college learning outcomes.
- Assess student learning and maintain accurate academic records.
- Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress and career pathways.
- Contribute to curriculum development, program review, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain office hours and provide timely communication with students.
- Participate in department, division, and college meetings, committees, and governance.
- Remain current with industry standards, technologies, and practices in filmmaking.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- MFA degree in Filmmaking, Film Production, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Teaching experience at the college level OR significant professional experience with demonstrated instructional or mentoring capability.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years teaching experience at the college level.
- Experience teaching at both associate and baccalaureate levels.
- Community or technical college teaching experience.
- Professional experience across multiple areas of filmmaking, including production, post-production, cinematography, and audio.
- Knowledge of domestic and/or international film festival landscapes, including submission strategies, programming considerations, and exhibition pathways.
- Demonstrated ability to remain current with professional filmmaking equipment, emerging technologies, and evolving industry standards.
- Experience working on domestic and international film projects or collaborating with global partners, productions, or markets.
- Experience integrating industry-standard tools, workflows, and technologies into instruction.
- Experience and/or teaching certification with one or more editing platforms such as Adobe Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation college students and military-affiliated students.

- Ability to design and deliver curriculum aligned with AAS-T and BAS-level outcomes.

- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with instructional technologies and learning management systems.

Additional Information

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.
This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.
