    Our Demi-Grand (DG)team within Research & Innovation (R&I) works closely with all R&Iteams and is responsible for designing, validating and commercializing formulasfor L'Oreal. This includes hands-on execution and oversight of the initial scale-upmanufacturing of new formulations, conducting evaluation of batches usinglaboratory equipment, and assisting in the development of processingprocedures.

    We are looking for atalented and highly motivated Senior ProcessingChemist to join our Demi-Grand teamin our Clark, New Jersey research facility. The role involves significant amountof hands-on work in the DG production floor, occasionally in laboratories,pilot plant, or manufacturing plant environments. Combination of office, DGproduction floor, Pilot plant, and commercial production environments with thepercentage of each varying with the requirements and stages of projects.Someone in this role will lead processtroubleshooting and joint batch project management with Demi Grand (DG)and Corporate Industrial Processing (CIQ) as well as actively participating in and/or leading internal project teamsfocused on improvement of workflows, safety and efficiency. They will beexpected to works on multiple projects simultaneously as needed with minimalguidance.

    As a Senior Processing Chemist in our Demi-Grandresearch team, your main responsibilities are:

    • Manufactures initial scale-upbatches of revised/new formulations, refining procedures based onguidelines from formulation Laboratories, Process Development andProcessing staff.
    • Interface with all Research& Innovation (R&I) teams responsible for designing, validating andcommercializing formulas for the group to define and design processes forrevised/new innovative products.
    • Evaluate batches against labstandards, specifications and make necessary adjustments as required.
    • Practice good laboratorytechniques in compliance with DGO guidelines and laboratory SOP's.
    • Complete necessary recordsfor all batches, clean equipment after use and maintain the cleanliness ofthe work area.
    • Suggest, help explore andsupport introduction and implementation of new processing technologies.
    • Provide technical assistanceto Demi-Grand Processing Team on new technologies and equipment, train newemployees on equipment use and batching techniques.
    • Works on defining productionprocess for product for manufacturing (phasing).
    • Contribute to departmentactivity/project reports as required and otherwise present results tomanagement and L'Oreal process community.
    • Participate in and/or leadsafety evaluations, assessments, and initial start-up training of newequipment.
    • Assist management in runningworkflow and efficiency improvement projects.
    • Recommend improvements inprocedures, methodology and techniques.
    • Work on fairly complexequipment under deadlines, as errors in work may cause business delays.
    • Execute batches andtroubleshoot with minimal supervision, in a team setting.
    • Performs other duties asrequired.
    To Succeed in this Position, You Have:
    • A completed Bachelor's Degreein a scientific (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science etc.)or engineering (Chemical, Materials, Biomedical) discipline (required)
    • 3-5 years of relevantindustry experience in cosmetic/personal care related production orscale-up labs (required)
    • Experience with the operationand cleaning of various types of manufacturing equipment (preferred).
    • Experience with cosmetic andpersonal care products is (preferred).
    • Basic knowledge of laboratoryprocedures, including familiarity with cGMP and FDA regulations(preferred).
    • Strong organization skills tohandle multiple projects with strict deadlines seeking direct guidance asneeded.
    • The ability to work wellindependently and interact effectively in a team environment.
    • The ability to thinkcreatively to find new and unique solutions to complex problems.
    • The ability to make decisionsindependently.
    • Demonstrated English verbaland written skills.
    • Ability to use and maintainbalances, thermometers, and other related laboratory instruments and toprepare samples and complete test procedures.
    • The ability to lift 35 lbs(11.3 kg) (required)
    • The ability to be fitted towear a respirator and wear for extended periods (required)
    • The ability to be onsite, inthe office as this is an essential function of the position (required)
    • Authorization to work in theUnited States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis without the needfor legal sponsorship now or in the future (required)
