    POSITION SUMMARY


    Under the direction of the Clinical Manager and within a multi-disciplinary team, this position will be responsible for assessment, care, and education of patients in the primary care setting.

    This position will assure compliance with all the policies/procedures of the NHBP Health Department, OSHA guidelines, IHS-OSHA guidelines, CLIA regulations, and all appropriate regulatory agencies.

    The Medical Assistant may be required to participate in the training of new employees, students and float staff. The Medical Assistant will also perform general office duties (keyboarding, filing, telephone, computer and office equipment) as required. This position may also be required to provide medical coverage as needed for NHBP events.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, chief complaint, and other necessary measurements. Obtains and reviews medical, surgical and social history, including medications and allergies.

    Performs procedures (in office labs:
    venipuncture, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, strep screens; EKG's, TB testing,) and reports results to providers.

    Performs CLIA testing and maintains quality control logs.

    Prepares and administers medications as directed by the provider.
