Job summary
The Pathology Assistant assists with the preparation and dissection of surgical specimens under the direction of a pathologist. This includes preparing tissue samples for analysis handling tissue banking examining surgical pathology specimens resections and autopsies recording findings sterilizing equipment performing gross examination dissection conducting postmortem examinations preparing medical records history filling administrative instructional supervisory roles working as liaison other departments laboratories ensuring quality healthcare adhering unit-level policies procedures safeguards University assets.Qualifications
Associate degree in relevant field minimum three years experience skill completing assignments accurately attention detail ability analyze organize prioritize work pressure meeting deadlines ability process handle confidential information discretion commit University core values ability work independently collaborative environment National certification required PA ASCP preferred three five years experience LIS proficiency proven leadership experience Any appropriate combination education experience certifications considered- National certification required.
