    Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service

    This position is located on Fort Shafter, Hawaii, which is near the Historical Palm Circle on the island of Oahu.

    and Responsibilities Serves as the Senior Data Scientist for the U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) Chief Data Office (CDO). Responsible for the development, management, control, coordination, and execution of data acquisition requirements for USARPAC. Construct data pipelines using complex tools and techniques to handle data at scale. Responsible for employing statistical methodologies to fuse data sources derived from requirements and systems. Develop data set processes and uses programming language and tools to identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality for missions, goals, and future planning. Plan and conduct relevant research and analytical studies of Army problems to support critical operational problems and/or decisions. Supervise a group of employees engaged in USARPAC's Data Analytics program.

    Basic Requirement for Data Scientist:
    A


    Degree:
    Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, computer science or field directly related to the position.

    The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

    OR B.


    Combination of Education and Experience:

    Must include courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

    In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

    Specialized Experience:

    One year of specialized experience which includes performing complex analytical, mathematical, and statistical research to identify options for implementing data driven solutions; evaluating performance of decision systems, models, and tools; and performing extensive analysis of data utilizing macros and pivot tables.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.


    Education FOREIGN EDUCATION:

    If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S.

    education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
