    Description

    This role involves working with a cloud-based, AI-powered plan review system designed to accelerate construction document reviews for code compliance, reducing review times from weeks to hours.

    The platform supports the Florida Building Code (FBC), National Electric Code (NEC), and other jurisdictions; it provides flagged issues, references to exact code sections, and corrective actions.

    Role Summary

    The Business Development Associate will be responsible for growing adoption of the platform, expanding the customer base (architects, developers, engineers, contractors, AHJs / permitting authorities), and closing deals.

    They must understand both the technical value proposition of the AI system and the regulatory/compliance context in construction and permitting.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prospect and generate leads:
    target developers, architects, engineers, contractors, municipalities / jurisdictional bodies.

    Explain the platform's value:
    faster reviews, code compliance, reference to exact code sections, cutting delays in permitting.

    Demonstrate the product (demos), guide prospects through value proposition, handle objections, negotiate contract terms.

    Work closely with marketing to support campaigns, webinars, and content that generate demand.

    Maintain and manage sales pipeline (CRM): track contacts, opportunities, forecasted revenue, conversion metrics.

    Collaborate with product/engineering teams to relay feedback from prospects about features, regulatory needs, and jurisdictional code requirements.


    Monitor competitive landscape, industry trends (e.g., changes in building codes, private provider rule changes like HB 683 in Florida) to inform positioning.

    Represent the platform at industry events, trade shows, permit & construction conferences.

    Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related area (or equivalent professional experience).

    2 5 years of sales or business development experience in software, construction, permit, or engineering-related services.

    Strong technical aptitude:
    ability to understand and communicate code compliance, permitting process, plan review, AI/ML-based tools.

    Excellent communication and presentation skills able to talk to technical staff, decision makers, and non-technical stakeholders.

    Skills in negotiation, contract management, and closing deals.

    Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changes in regulation, product roadmap, etc.

    Experience with CRM tools and sales forecasting.

    Local network or ability to build relationships in Florida real estate / construction / permitting circles is a plus.

    What Success Looks Like
    Meeting revenue targets and growth metrics for new customer acquisition.

    High conversion rate from demo/proposal to closed deals.

    Growing usage of the platform in key sectors (architects, developers, AHJs).

    Strong customer feedback on ease of use, value delivered, and satisfaction.

    Contribution to product improvements via feedback loop with clients.
