Job Overview:
The Integration and Housing Caseworker works alongside clients to build stability, self-sufficiency, and long-term community integration. This includes initial and extended resettlement and integration services, including extended housing support. The caseworker supports a broad range of clients, including but not limited to newly arrived and returning refugees, asylees, SIV holders, parolees, and other ORR-eligible populations through individualized service planning, case management support, housing stabilization, and coaching designed to promote independence.
Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Casework Services
- Develop individualized service plans in collaboration with clients, focusing on integration, self-sufficiency, and housing stability.
- Deliver orientations and conduct home visits to support client goals.
- Assist clients with applications for public benefits, school enrollment, Social Security, and other services that promote stability.
- Provide coaching to build client skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to navigate U.S. systems independently.
- Support resettlement activities as needed, including reception and placement of new arrivals.
Housing Navigation Services
- Screen clients for housing eligibility, verify documentation, and conduct secondary case reviews to ensure compliance.
- Provide rental, utility, and/or security deposit assistance in line with program guidelines, ensuring timely landlord/vendor payments.
- Develop housing stabilization plans with enrolled households, including budgeting, goal setting, and tenant education.
- Conduct outreach to landlords, property managers, and vendors to expand access to affordable housing; assist with lease signings, renewals, and tenant rights education.
- Coordinate housing set-ups, utility connections, safety inspections, and procurement of furnishings and supplies.
- Support clients in crisis situations, including eviction prevention and mediation with landlords.
- Facilitate referrals to employment, public benefits, and other stabilization supports as part of a bundled service approach.
Administration & Partnerships
- Maintain timely, accurate case documentation in Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), Geneva, and other required systems.
- Track and reconcile financial assistance disbursements, ensuring compliance with donor and program requirements.
- Participate in statewide outreach to underserved regions, including the Pikes Peak Region and Northern Colorado, to expand access to RHSP resources.
- Collaborate with colleagues, community partners, and other resettlement agencies to ensure clients have access to holistic services.
- Attend trainings, team meetings, and state/local partner convenings as required.
- Other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to front desk support, assistance with other direct service teams or tasks, etc.
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Position Reports to: Casework Supervisor or Integration Manager
- Position Directly Supervises: N/A, may provide some supervision of interns and volunteers assigned to assist clients with health and public benefits
Job Requirements:
Education: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Relevant professional experience in the human services field required; minimum of 2 years strongly preferred.
- Experience with case management, housing navigation, or social services delivery.
- Experience with immigrant and refugee populations preferred; lived experience valued.
- Knowledge of housing systems, landlord/tenant rights, and public benefits preferred.
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:
- Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by IRC's clients is desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
Working Environment:
- Standard office environment combined with fieldwork and home visits.
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle is required.
- Frequent travel throughout the Denver metro area and occasional statewide travel for RHSP outreach will be required.
- Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs.
- May require occasional weekend, early morning and/or evening work.
Compensation: (Pay Range: $24.00-$25.00) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
